Music Icon Prince Dies at 57: Public Responses and Reactions

Mon. 4/21/2016, 3:52pm—On April 21, 2016, pop-music icon Prince was reportedly found unressponsive by authorities at his studio in Minnesota. He was pronounced as officially deceased at approximately 10:07am, according to a report by Larry McShane of the Daily News.

The breaking news was first reported by the celebrity paparazzi media outlet TMZ, who picked up the 911 call at about 9:49am. It has been reported that the musician had been battling the flu for the past week, which has been labeled, at this point, as the cause of his death. As per TMZ:

The singer — full name Prince Rogers Nelson — had a medical emergency on April 15th that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. But he appeared at a concert the next day to assure his fans he was okay. His people told TMZ he was battling the flu.

Since then, major news sources like CNN and ABC News have reported on the artist’s passing, and although no confirmed reports have led to foul play in the singer’s death, the story continues to develop.

It is a truly devastating and sad day for the music community. A man of true passion and spiritual creativity, the world will forever benefit from his contributions. Celebrities and artists react:
